What does my family need to know about my funeral Prearrangement at the time of my death?

Along with your insurance policy and funeral contract from Texas Service Life Insurance Company, you will be provided with a policy ID Card containing important information about your policy and benefits. You should make sure that your designated family member or close friends are made aware of this ID Card and the location of the policy. Instruct your family to contact the funeral home specified in your funeral Prearrangement contract. If your family does not have the name or number of the funeral home, they can contact our Claims Department at 1.800.756.7306 or claims@tslic.com so we can put them in touch with the right person and begin the process of filing a claim on your policy.

Question 4

What if I move to another city or out of state?

Accepted Answer

If you move to another city, you can select a new Funeral Home either now or at the time of need, as long as the new Funeral Home Provider accepts the contract terms. If you choose to have the funeral at a Funeral Home Provider that did not accept the contract terms, your life insurance policy and the benefits stay active, but the funeral prices are not guaranteed with a different funeral home.
If you move to another state, the funeral cannot be transferred there. However, your life insurance policy and benefits will remain active, and the funds can be used to cover funeral costs.

What if I want to cancel my prepaid funeral arrangements?

Cancelling your funeral arrangements does not cancel your funding insurance policy. If you wish to cancel your funeral arrangements along with your payment plan, you will need to speak with our Customer Service Department at 1.800.756.7306 to review your contract and determine the various options available to you

What if I want to make a change to my funeral plan?

Changing your pre-arranged funeral selections may affect the payment arrangements previously made. In order to make sure your insurance policy will still cover the cost, please call our Customer Service Department at 1.800.756.7306. We will be happy to discuss options available to you.

If I choose the multiple payments option and later decide to pay off the policy, can I do that?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the type of policy you have and how long it has been in effect, you may have the option to pay down your balance. If this option is available to you, there may or may not be savings associated with exercising the early pay-off option.

Are my funds protected when I prepay?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you purchase your insurance policy backed by Texas Service Life Insurance Company (TSLIC), you can rely on our financial strength and 30+ year history in the community to deliver payment of your pre-arranged funeral contract. TSLIC is able to honor your insurance claim when the claim is filed.

I made Pre-arrangements with a local funeral home, but my insurance policy is being handled by Texas Service Life, Why is that?

While your funeral arrangements will be carried out by your funeral home, your payments toward that cost will be held by the government-regulated financial institution, Texas Service Life Insurance Company. That way, your funding is protected and available at the time of need.
